For Jesus, worship is a matter of the gravest importance, and as the messianic King he claims lordship over it. A significant proportion of the Bible is devoted to the regulation of worship and we are sadly misled if we imagine that the quality of what we offer in worship services, or the devotion with which we participate, is a matter of peripheral importance.
